The Public Sector Financial Management Committee (PSFMC) of CAPA is focused on improving the quality of financial management in the public sector by identifying, developing and sharing relevant knowledge and guidance. This includes the promotion of high-quality financial and performance management reporting and assurance involving relevant international standards on accounting and auditing. This publication has been prepared by the PSFMC to further these objectives. It outlines the importance of PFM, eight key elements of PFM success, role of the accountancy profession and an approach towards conducting dialogue with governments. It concludes with a suggested approach to PFM reform.
